One slave with multiple instances : how to join between them (no replies)

Hi there,
I have one server, running multiple MySQL instances for as many as MySQL masters servers. Now, I want to run SQL joins between these different databases. It looks like federated tables might be the answer. Has anyone have any feedback about it, or maybe another solution ?
