Good day
We are looking at setting up a new data warehouse server as a replication slave since our current one can't keep up with the production server.
The new machine will have the following specifications:
CPU 2.8GHz Intel quad core
RAM 8GB
HDD 4× 146GB SAS 15K (RAID10)
The current machine's specifications are:
CPU 2.3GHz quad core
RAM 4GB
HDD 4× 500GB (RAID5)
Our production server is:
CPU 2× 3.00GHz Intel quad core
RAM 8GB
HDD 4× 80GB SAS 15K (RAID10)
CPU utilization 70%
The problem is that the replication slave can only run as 1 thread which in this case will be the maximum of one CPU core.
What I need to know is will the new machine be sufficient to keep up and is there a better ways to do the replication (more efficient)?
