Hiya there,
So I've had a master-slave set up for me so I could do reporting and backups without effecting the master. Works brilliantly! But I have a question and I'm hoping that some nice people on here might give me some best practice advise. I'm not fantastic at this, so the more explicit you can get about it you can get the more excited I'll get!
My question is what to do if my master fails? I assume I can use my slave, right? So I would turn the slave into the master and use that while the master is being repaired? And then turn my slave back into a slave again when the master is OK? How would I get the new data now in the slave back to the master? Would I have to set up my master as a slave and then once synced reverse it again? Seems like a lot of work to go through.
Am I missing a post or a doc? If the answer is really RTFM I apologise in advance and would be very happy for a link.
Can anyone help me?
