Does group replication work on WAN? (3 replies)

I am trying to setup group replication in a AWS VPC over 2 availability zones.
I tested with a group of 3 servers in save availability zone (low latency network/LAN) and everything was ok, group was up and runing properly. I tried the same setup but this time with 2 servers in one availability zone and another server in another availability zone (hence WAN, maybe high latency?). This setup failed for the 3rd server ( a slave ). The 3rd server fails to join the group. Pasting below the error log entries :
